Theme: Car electrical equipment

     The electronic system of the car is an important component that affects its normal functioning. Electronic equipment is responsible for powering lighting, alarms, control devices, starting the car with a starter, and most importantly with the help of an electronic system is the ignition of fuel in the internal combustion engine, which gives the car kinetic energy.

       In addition to these electricity consumers, the car's electrical equipment system includes power sources, switches, fuses, and electrical wires.

       A rechargeable battery consists of three or six acid batteries connected in series. 

    The car's current sources are the battery and the generator. The rechargeable battery provides the car with electric current in the non-started state and in the state of the car at low idle speeds. At medium and high speeds of the car's engine, electric current is generated by the generator, and the generator also provides recharging of the battery at this stage of the car's operation. 

       There are one more negatively charged plates in each battery than positively charged ones, so there are negative plates on both sides of the unit. 

       Positive plates are separated from negative porous gaskets, which are made of leached wood, glass felt, ebonite or plastic. 

        The plates of the same name are connected by lead jumpers. Lead pins are welded to the jumpers, brought out through the two extreme holes in the battery cover. The top of the plate is closed with a perforated plastic shield. The battery is filled with electrolyte through the holes in the lid, which are closed with plugs. Gases that are formed when the battery is charged go out through the vent of the plugs. In some batteries, this hole is made in a separate fitting on the cover. The gaps between the lids and the walls of the tank are sealed with bituminous mastic. 

     The batteries are connected to the battery in series by means of lead interconnections (bridges) welded to the output pins. Bridge-free output pins for extreme batteries are connected to the car's electrical system. The electrolyte for acid batteries is a solution of chemically pure ("battery") sulfuric acid in distilled water.  

      Current consumers in the car:

• ignition system (for carburetor engines), which serves to ignite the working mixture in the cylinders;

• a starting system that rotates the crankshaft and moves the pistons during engine start-up to inject fuel into the cylinders and compress it to make the first strokes;

• lighting system (low and high beam headlights, interior lights) and alarm (position lights, turn signals, etc.), as well as control and measuring devices and additional equipment, such as car radio;

• fuel supply control system during its injection;

• anti-lock braking system, etc.

      As a rule, a direct current of 12 or 24 volts is used to power automotive electrical appliances. All devices are connected in parallel to current sources and to each other. On cars the one-wire scheme of system of electric equipment is applied. The second wire - the body (mass) - are the metal parts of the car:

• do not use homemade "bugs" instead of fuses;

• do not use wire-wound wires;

• do not start the motor from an external power source, so as not to damage the motor control unit;

• maintaining cleanliness in the system of wires and contacts.

      For trouble-free and long work of electronic system of the automobile engine and all car it is necessary to adhere strictly to rules of their operation:

    The main cause of electrical problems is loss of contact. As a result, the contacts overheat, oxidize, short circuit, melt insulation. The operation of electrical circuits is disrupted, fuses burn, wires and contacts burn.

    The main enemies of the car's electrical system are moisture and dirt. They reduce the insulation resistance and cause short circuits. To protect the wiring from moisture, use water-repellent aerosols to prevent moisture from entering the wiring. Particular attention should be paid to the condition of the battery terminals. They must always be clean and secure. Poor contact at the battery terminals causes the entire electrical system of the vehicle to shut down, especially when the starter is started.

      In finance, a forward contract or simply a forward is a non-standardized contract between two parties to buy or to sell an asset at a specified future time at a price agreed upon today, making it a type of derivative instrument. The party agreeing to buy the underlying asset in the future assumes a long position, and the party agreeing to sell the asset in the future assumes a short position. The price agreed upon is called the delivery price, which is equal to the forward priceat the time the contract is entered into.

       The price of the underlying instrument, in whatever form, is paid before control of the instrument changes. This is one of the many forms of buy/sell orders where the time and date of trade is not the same as the value date where the securities themselves are exchanged. Forwards, like other derivative securities, can be used to hedge risk (typically currency or exchange rate risk), as a means of speculation, or to allow a party to take advantage of a quality of the underlying instrument which is time-sensitive.

       A closely related contract is a futures contract; they differ in certain respects. Forward contracts are very similar to futures contracts, except they are not exchange-traded, or defined on standardized assets. Forwards also typically have no interim partial settlements or "true-ups" in margin requirements like futures – such that the parties do not exchange additional property securing the party at gain and the entire unrealized gain or loss builds up while the contract is open. However, being traded over the counter (OTC), forward contracts specification can be customized and may include mark-to-market and daily margin calls. Hence, a forward contract arrangement might call for the loss party to pledge collateral or additional collateral to better secure the party at gain. In other words, the terms of the forward contract will determine the collateral calls based upon certain "trigger" events relevant to a particular counterparty such as among other things, credit ratings, value of assets under management or redemptions over a specific time frame, e.g., quarterly, annually, etc.
